In this session, hosted by the Green Building Council of Australia, our experts will share their experiences of how renewables are transforming the sustainable built environment.

CHAIR

Davina Rooney

CEO, Green Building Council of Australia

Davina Rooney joined Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) in June 2019 as Chief Executive Officer. Davina came to GBCA from Stockland where she was General Manager, Sustainability and Corporate Procurement at Stockland. Davina has a variety of sustainability experience, from environmental projects, not-for profit boards and overseas community development work - spending 8 months working in the Indian Himalayas on the construction of a school which won multiple international awards. Davina is an engineer and has extensive experience in sustainability and building consulting. Davina has been recognised by industry awards including NAWIC NSW Sustainability 2016, PCA 2014 Future Leaders Award and Sydney University Engineering Young Alumni Award.

Julia Halioua

Sustainability Advisor, Frasers Property Australia

Julia manage Frasers Property Australia sustainability initiatives in NSW and drive the net zero carbon strategy. She is an engineer with over 6 years of experience in sustainability consultancy across France, UK and Australia and contributed to award winning projects. Her expertise focuses on green building design and construction, sustainability rating systems and climate change. She is passionate about driving changes to create resilient and thriving communities.

Steve Ford

Head of Sustainability & Energy, The GPT Group

Steve Ford is the Head of Sustainability and Energy at The GPT Group. He has worked for over a decade in driving improved environmental and social sustainability outcomes in the property industry. His current focuses are delivering the GPT zero emissions plan and embedding high integrity waste and resource management practices and reporting.

A physicist himself, prior to joining the property industry, Steve worked with scientists, engineers and educators at the Australia Museum and the University of New South Wales on programs to disseminate their research to a broad range of audiences. He has carried his passion for a sustainable future throughout his career

Jessica Stewart

Sustainability Manager, Ginninderry

Jessica Stewart is Sustainability Manager for Riverview Projects. Jessica is currently working on the Ginninderry development – a 30 to 40 year project which will ultimately become home for approximately 30,000 residents. Ginninderry is Australia’s only cross-border master-planned community – extending across the ACT border into NSW. 

Jess holds tertiary qualifications in Engineering and Science from the ANU and was awarded the NAWIC ACT Emerging Leader Award and PCA Future Leader in 2017.

 

Jeremy McLeod

Founder, Nightingale Housing 

Jeremy is the founding Director of Breathe Architecture, a team of dedicated Architects that has built a reputation for delivering high quality design and championing sustainability in architecture and urbanism.

In 2013 Breathe Architecture instigated The Commons housing project, the success of which was the catalyst for the formation of Nightingale Housing.
