China's carbon tax is very real
27/01/2012 - The news that China may very soon introduce a carbon tax has caused a stir. Of the many articles to address the topic, John Lee’s Wall Street Journal commentary “China’s Fake Carbon Tax”, published earlier this month, is particularly striking. In this confusing diatribe, Lee puts forward his personal theories about China’s motives. But these have no foundation in reality.

Can Solar Energy Lower Cost of CCS?
27/01/2012 - Looming above a test plot full of mirrors like some kind of Transformer-inspired arachnid, the tower at the center of Masdar City's concentrating solar power plant is almost menacing at first glimpse. Although still only one year into the R&D phase, the 100 kW Beam-Down Solar Thermal Concentrator at Masdar City, the emerging renewable energy research hub located 15 miles from downtown Abu Dhabi, has the potential to generate 75-85 megawatt-hours of renewable energy annually.Click here for full story
US Navy to purchase gigawatt of RE by 2020
27/01/2012 -

The Navy said Thursday it will ramp up its use of public-private partnerships to purchase one gigawatt of renewable energy by 2020.

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said in a statement that one gigawatt is enough to power a city the size of Orlando, Fla. — or about 250,000 homes.

The purchase will be one means for the Navy to meet its goal that half of its energy comes from renewable sources by the end of fiscal 2020

UK solar industry: Can Govt be trusted?
27/01/2012 - This week, the government lost its appeal against a judge's ruling that its move to change the rates for solar feed-in tariffs before the official consultation has ended was "legally flawed". The high court ruling is a real victory for the solar industry and for those households, businesses and community projects in my constituency who would have been left high and dry by the Department of Energy and Climate Change's attempts to apply a retrospective change to the rate.  Click here for full story
Renewables plan Profit Without Subsidy
27/01/2012 -

Jan. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Renewable energy companies are approaching the point where they can generate electricity at a price competitive with fossil-fuels without subsidies, the biggest wind and solar manufacturers said.

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Chief Executive Officer Zhengrong Shi said solar will reach parity with fossil fuels on electric grids by 2015. Vestas Wind systems A/S expects its turbines to compete without incentives “in the coming years,” said Peter Brun, head of governmental relations.

 All about All-Energy Australia

All-Energy Australia is the sister show to All-Energy UK, Europe's largest all-renewables event. 3,000 people from across Australia and internationally visited the Australian show in 2010.

This is what one All-Energy Australia 2010 delegate had to say about the event - "Excellent!!!! Absolutely fantastic to have something of this quality without the usual hefty conference attendance fee." See more testimonials here or see the 2010 show video here.

As with the UK show, the high quality conference programme, exhibition and first evening networking event are all entirely free to attend - a business model that has proven to be highly successful.
