Wind energy's state of play and project projections

Katrina Swalwell

Technical Director, Aurecon

Dr. Katrina Swalwell is an engineer with over 20 years experience in wind energy from fundamental research to leading technical assessments for major wind farm developments throughout South East Asia. Her experience includes 10 years working at a wind turbine manufacturer leading a team responsible for optimisation of wind farms to improve the levelized cost of energy, turbine site suitability assessment, power and noise guarantees and testing and assessments of operational wind farms. She joined Aurecon a year ago as a Technical Director and is enjoying bringing her experience into multidisciplinary teams to provide clear answers to complex technical questions across the development and operating life of wind farms.

Peter Cowling

Country Head - Australia & NZ, Vestas

Nigel is the Head of Infrastructure at TransGrid where he works with customers to facilitate the renewable power connections that will underpin the rapid transition of Australia’s energy system. In four years he has expanded TransGrid’s contestable business across Australia and in so doing, successfully added 3GW of renewable power into the National Energy Market. Nigel has been actively involved in the long-term development of global power and energy systems for over two decades.

Passionate about improving the standard of living for future generations, Nigel’s early career focused on delivering projects that built the economic prosperity of developing nations through International Monetary Fund and World Bank funding. Locally, Nigel has been a member of the ‘NSW Joint Infrastructure Committee’ tasked with reviewing and supporting policy for critical infrastructure development and joint infrastructure. In addition to his commercial role at TransGrid he is the deputy chair of TransGrid’s diversity council.

Warwick Heaney

Senior Wind Engineer, Acciona Energy Australia Global
