All-ENERGY AUSTRALIA 2012 BIGGER AND BETTER
Six months out, Australia’s largest and most successful clean and renewable energy conference and exhibition is on target to break attendance records.
More space than ever before has been secured by exhibitors and delegate numbers are expected to swell.
The space reserved for exhibitors has been greatly expanded this year to 3,750m2 compared to 3,000m2 last year, 1,750m2 the year before and 875m2 in 2009, the event’s debut year.
It is anticipated that more than 4,000 delegates will attend the exhibition and conference, up from 3,600 last year, 3,000 in 2010 and 1,750 in 2009.
All-Energy Australia Regional Director Boyd Dale says the ongoing success of the event can be attributed to the ground-breaking trade model of free-to-delegate attendance and the high calibre of speakers and exhibitors.
“This provides maximum exposure for clean energy technology providers,” Mr Dale says.
Upwards of 100 leading international and Australian speakers, chosen for their energy expertise, will address the two-day event.
All-Energy Australia Business Development Manager Mary Hendriks says bookings have already exceeded last year’s levels by more than 30% and she anticipates well in excess of 200 exhibitors.
“Returning exhibitors are taking more space than they have in the past, while the interest shown and pavilions booked by international exhibitors has exceeded all expectations,” Ms Hendriks says.
“In addition to solar, wind and marine energy exhibitors, we anticipate a good number of new participants, including those with a specific interest in biofuels and energy efficiency.”

HUGE CLEAN ENERGY PORTFOLIO ON SHOW
Diversity is one of the keys to the success of All-Energy Australia, the biggest international clean and renewable energy event in this country.
Leading international and local exhibitors and speakers are drawn from all sectors of the industry, including solar, wind, geothermal and marine, along with carbon capture and storage.
This year’s exhibition and multi-stream conference is expected to attract up to 250 exhibitors, 100 speakers and 4,000 delegates from more than 20 countries.
For the first time, part of the exhibition space will be dedicated to exhibitors dealing with energy efficiency and energy in the built environment. There will also be a feature display of electric vehicles and sustainable transport solutions.
Supported by the Victorian government and the country’s foremost clean energy organisations and associations, All-Energy Australia 2011 will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on October 12th and 13th.
This year’s sponsors have significant experience in mainstream and innovative energy technologies.
Many emerging companies will be demonstrating their products that harness renewable energy sources other than the sun and the wind.
AquaGen’s key technology, known as SurgeDrive®, is emission free and uses the power of the ocean to produce electricity and desalinated water. The company has overcome historical barriers to commercialising wave power. As such, SurgeDrive’s large-scale application has the potential to exploit the vast global ocean resource at a price more commonly associated with traditional renewable forms of energy.
WaterFurnace International has been a pioneer in the development of the geoexchange heating and cooling industry around the world. The first WaterFurnace geothermal or ground source heat pumps were installed in Australia in the early 1990s. GeoExchange Australia is distributor for one of the most respected names in the industry and will be positioned in the Energy Efficiency section of the exhibition.
Verdicorp is a manufacturer of high performance renewable energy Organic Rankine Cycle Turbines. It will showcase a new range of ORC products for the Australian market. These modular systems convert waste heat into electrical energy in the 30kWe to 1MWe range. Verdicorp’s oil free, variable speed direct drive magnetically levitated turbines utilise the Danfoss Turbocor Compressor technology, the innovation leader in the HVAC industry.
Built environment and energy generation is not the only clean energy solution that will be highlighted at All-Energy Australia. Transport is a significant generator of carbon dioxide. On display at the event will be the Tesla electric sports car and Nissan Leaf along with a variety of commercial utility vehicles.
All-Energy Australia Regional Director Boyd Dale says one of the distinguishing features of the free-to-delegate exhibition and conference is that it deliberately targets a broad cross section of clean energy technologies.
“Collectively they provide a comprehensive “clean and green” solution to the world’s growing energy needs.
“From day one we set out to show what is possible and that means highlighting a broad range of renewable energy alternatives.
“We are grateful for the support we have received from our major sponsors and encourage developing and pre-commercial companies to exhibit their technologies.
“We look forward to welcoming ever growing numbers of delegates, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors to All-Energy Australia,” Mr Dale says.

NEWS RELEASE - INDUSTRY IMPERATIVES FOR CLEAN ENERGY TO BECOME MAINSTREAM IN AUSTRALIA
For clean energy to be become mainstream in Australia, there is a requirement for several things to occur. It is imperative that there be sound technology at market-sustainable prices and an understanding of how to apply that technology, while building a strong business case for it and its associated funding.
Mature technologies such as wind and solar are now experiencing great advances in efficiency and a reduction in their production costs, while emerging technologies such as marine, geothermal, biofuels and others are rapidly reaching a point of commercial readiness.
Such developments mean that new business opportunities appear on the horizon every day. For example, commercially available Organic Rankine Cycle power technology can utilise low grade waste heat – as low as 100oC to 140oC – that can realise a three-year payback, after which power is free from a previously disregarded waste stream. Similar technology can just as easily be applied to waste heat flows or alternatively to remote geothermal resources, while funding options, such as build-own-operate, are also available.
Many businesses today see a three-year payback as viable and Federal Energy Efficiency Opportunity legislation requires industry to consider up to a four-year return on investment. So, the technology is available and the business case exists to seriously consider such technology, if people know where to look.
In addition, industry imperatives such as the prospect of a price on carbon and Australia’s aging power generation – that requires an estimated $120 billion overhaul of the industry – place a sharp focus on clean energy and energy efficiency. This focus is assisted by innovative business networking forums such as the All-Energy Australia 2011 Exhibition and Conference that will be held at Melbourne’s Convention and Exhibition Centre on October 12th and 13th.
The genesis of the free-to-delegate model was a small show in Aberdeen, Scotland 11 years ago, attended by 350, intrigued by the prospect of a clean energy trade event. Cut to May 18th and 19th this year and All-Energy UK is on target to host 500 international exhibitors and in excess of 7,000 delegates networking in a multi-billion dollar industry.
In 2009 Boyd Dale, the Regional Director for All-Energy, opened the inaugural Australian conference and exhibition in Melbourne. The unique event – accessing the latest technologies without charge to its delegates – was successfully transplanted from the UK, providing an international forum of expertise with a distinctly Australian flavour.
Attracting top level company executives, captains of industry, engineers, technologists and all levels of government, the show has grown dramatically in stature and size since its inception. While it has the quality of the expensive, paid clean energy forums, Mr Dale maintains that organisers do not want entrance fees to act as a barrier to the development of the clean energy industry.
“For that reason All-Energy will always be an event that opens its doors without charge to all delegates with a business interest in clean and renewable energy,” Mr Dale says.
Hosted by the Victorian Government and supported by Australia’s foremost clean energy organisations and associations, All-Energy Australia is now the largest clean energy trade exhibition and multi-stream conference in Australia. In 2009, the two-day event attracted 87 exhibitors and 1,750 business delegates, and that number grew to 175 exhibitors from 13 countries and 3,000 delegates from more than 20 countries last year.
Annually, in excess of 100 speakers from Australia and abroad cover all aspects of clean energy, from technology and its application to funding, incentives and support issues such as IP, legislation and training. Topics vary from the implementation of market-ready technology to future innovation.
The third annual antipodean event, All-Energy Australia 2011, is on track to be the largest yet, providing unique insights into the application of the latest clean energy technologies and energy efficiency as it relates to individuals, businesses and governments (local, state and federal).
For those interested in attending or exhibiting can find further details on www.all-energy.com.au or by phoning 1800 791 792.

NEWS RELEASE - CLEAN ENERGY BUSINESS DRAWS RECORD NUMBERS
Attracting 3,000 delegates from 24 countries over two days, All-Energy Australia 2010 – hosted by the Victorian government – has claimed its place as this
nation’s largest clean and renewable energy event.
Registrations included participants from Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
The multi-stream conference and exhibition – held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on October 6th and 7th – featured more than 100 speakers and 188 exhibitors from 13 countries.
Supported by Austrade, the export arm of the federal government also led a high-level US delegation to the conference that presented an insight into the commercialisation of the clean energy sector in America.
All-Energy Regional Director Boyd Dale says “this year’s event saw a sizeable increase in interest from within Australia and abroad, which is a resounding endorsement of the increasing importance of clean energy and energy efficiency in this country.“Those attending are industry professionals committed to the sector and the business opportunities growing within it.“Among the most pleasing aspects of All-Energy Australia 2010 was the proliferation of clean tech business deals that took place on the exhibition floor.”
The numerous highlights of the free-to-delegate business-to-business conference included the opening Ministerial Plenary session that attracted more than 400 delegates. Panellists included federal and state government representatives and the leading international expert on nuclear fusion, Dr Ed Moses, who is Director of the National Ignition Facility in California. Mr Moses – on his first trip to Australia, specifically for the conference – addressed the path to sustainable,carbon-free energy.

clean coal and carbon sequestration.
An unexpected visitor was the independent Federal Member for Kennedy, Bob Katter, who attended to support one of the exhibitors – the Mount Isa Townsville Economic Zone (MITEZ) – and the proposed $1.7 billion CopperString project, which would meet the future energy needs of northwest Queensland.
To close out the conference, highly-regarded ABC TV presenter Ali Moore led a vigorous discussion on the business of investing in clean tech, during which she sought the opinions of six speakers about the challenges that lie ahead.
Among them were Vincent Dwyer, a Partner with Norton Rose Australia, Geoff Evison, Managing Director of Arkx Investment Management and Richard Featherby, Executive Director of Ernst & Young.
They were joined by Michael O’Sullivan, President of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors, Kerry Rooney, Global Manager of Clean Energy and Environment for Austrade and Matthew Wright, Executive Director of Beyond Zero Emissions.
Planning has already begun for next year’s event, which will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on October 12th and 13th, 2011.

The project, known as CopperString, involves building an 1,100 kilometre, $1.7 billion ransmission line between Townsville and Mount Isa.
In the pipeline for more than two years, with Mr Katter’s new-found power base he hopes to see he initiative through to fruition, with construction due to begin as early as next year.
Mr Katter – a fierce supporter of clean energy and his own electorate – will be attending All- Energy Australia 2010 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to hear an address on the proposal by Councillor Paul Woodhouse, Mayor of McKinlay Shire.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard has committed the federal government to assessing the CopperString project as a priority in her new administration as part of the $1 billion Connecting Renewables Initiative.
Should the proposal be given the go-ahead, it will fulfil up to a fifth of the federally mandated target to derive 20 percent of Australia’s electricity from zero emission sources by 2020.
Earlier this year, the Queensland Premier Anna Bligh declared the initiative “a project of state significance”.
All-Energy Australia 2010 is a business to business event that has attracted more than 1,750 delegates and almost 200 exhibitors from in excess of a dozen countries.

HIGH LEVEL OF DELEGATE REGISTRATIONS HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF ALL-ENERGY AUSTRALIA ’09
Interest in All-Energy Australia ’09, being staged this Wednesday and Thursday, 7 & 8 October, at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, was running ahead of expectations on the eve of the event.
By 9pm last night approximately 2,000 people had registered to attend the event, which combines a major exhibition of key players in the clean and renewable energy industry with a world-class multi-stream conference.
All-Energy Australia is the most prestigious clean and renewable energy event to be staged in Australia and is modelled on a highly successful UK conference and exhibition. It has the official support of the City of Melbourne and the Government of the State of Victoria.
The conference opens this morning with a plenary session led by the Hon Peter Batchelor MP, Minister for Energy and Resources, State of Victoria Government. After presentations by a number of other dignitaries, the event will split into a number of streams focusing on technical and investment matters and will feature around 100 expert speakers.
These experts include heavyweight representatives of major international investors which control more than a trillion dollars in private capital. The show will reach its zenith on Thursday afternoon when the top Australian Broadcasting Corporation journalist, Kerry O’Brien, leads a Grand Investment Round Table sponsored by Austrade. Mr O’Brien will invite delegates to quiz these international investors directly about their future intentions in the clean and renewable energy arena.
Ahead of All-Energy Australia, Fred Buenrostro, until recently the CEO of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) which controls investments $200 billion, said those companies, corporations and businesses that fail to invest in clean technology to counter the effects of global warming will ultimately become marginalised by the market. He said: “It is crunch time for the planet and the heads of the global corporate community must be held accountable.” Mr Buenrostro is one of the top investment heavyweights who will address the conference on Thursday.
Commenting on the high level of delegate registrations ahead of All-Energy Australia, Paul Stott, Managing Director of the event organisers, Media Generation Group plc, said: “There’s no doubt that the clean and renewable energy industry is moving centre stage as people and governments around the world recognise the urgent need to address the enormous challenges posed by climate change. Right across the board, from clean coal to solar, wind and energy efficiency, clean and renewable energy technologies have a vital role to play in our future.”

ULTIMATUM ISSUED TO TOP COMPANIES
INVEST IN CLEAN ENERGY OR FACE OSTRACISM
The executive who guided one of the world’s leading pension funds for six years says leading companies, corporations and businesses that fail to invest in clean technology to counter the effects of global warming will ultimately become marginalised by the market.
Fred Buenrostro, the recently retired CEO of California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) (which has assets totalling more than $200 billion), says it is “crunch time for the planet and the heads of the global corporate community must be held accountable.”
Mr. Buenrostro will visit Australia next month to address the All-Energy Australia conference (to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on October 7th and 8th) and to meet with leading Australian economic interests to encourage their greater participation in plans to respond to climate change.
While CEO of CalPERS, Mr Buenrostro successfully led an effort to become the country’s first public pension fund to invest in the growing clean technology industry, committing more than US$1.5billion to the sector.
Mr Buenrostro says that “since 2004 US investment in clean tech has been growing annually by about 60% and has now reached US$10 billion.”
He says “superannuation and pension funds have immense power – as they control the flow of trillions of dollars of investment capital – and they should give strong consideration to businesses that invest a certain proportion of their revenue in reversing the impact of climate change.
“I would implore more pension and super funds to withhold investments in companies unless these companies become significantly more aware of their carbon footprint and respond accordingly.
“This will not only make them more efficient but more profitable, because a low carbon business is a profitable business.
“Frankly, these companies need to make changes to the way they operate, otherwise the planet itself is in dire straits.”
Mr Buenrostro will participate in a 90-minute round table discussion on the business of investing in the clean and renewal energy sector – involving industry heavyweights representing more than a trillion dollars in private capital – at All-Energy Australia at 3pm on October 8th.

“It is not too much of a stretch to say that these finance leaders have the future of the clean energy sector in their hands,” Mr Dale says.
Free to registered delegates, this business-to-business event has attracted more than 100 Australian and international speakers and will showcase the latest technology and innovation in clean and renewal energy.
Among keynote speakers are Olivier Druecke, President of the European Solar Thermal Technology Industry Federation and Brad Page, CEO of the Energy Supply Association, along with Ian Gallet, who heads the Society of Underwater Technology and Victoria’s Energy and Resources Minister, Peter Batchelor, who will open the conference.
Others of note to address the two-day multi-stream conference will include Drew Clarke, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism, Richard Elkington, General Manager Power & Environment for Loy Yang Power and Bruce Harrison, CEO of the Biofuels Association of Australia.
Mr Dale says “All-Energy Australia will provide a forum for discussion and networking between those involved in the industry and a good opportunity to mix with other likeminded individuals and companies.”
“The event – hosted by the Victorian Department of Primary Industries and endorsed by the Australian Clean Energy Council and the Western Australian Sustainable Energy Association – will canvas all major themes relating to clean and sustainable energy development.”
Delegates are being drawn from around the world. Registrations to date include representatives from Europe, North America, the United Arab Emirates, China, India, Japan, Malaysia and Nepal.

MELBOURNE LANDS INTERNATIONAL CLEAN ENERGY EXPO
Victoria has beaten other states and countries to be the first outside the UK to host one of the world’s most highly-regarded renewable and clean energy expos, Energy and Resources Minister Peter Batchelor announced today.
Mr Batchelor said the All-Energy Australia E xpo and Conference would be held on 7 and 8 October this year at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“The Brumby Government is taking action to make Victoria a world leader in renewable and clean energy development and our success at attracting this event is a major coup for the state,” Mr Batchelor said.
“The Brumby Government will be the principal sponsor of the event which will bring together investors, researchers, academics, industry and government representatives from here and overseas to discuss and view the latest clean energy technology.
“It will be the biggest of its kind in Australia and will focus on clean and sustainable sources of energy.”
Mr Batchelor said the All-Energy UK was Europe's largest all-renewable energy exhibition and conference and had been running in Aberdeen, Scotland, since 2001.
“The people behind that event were looking to spread their message further afield,” he said.
“Government representatives met with All-Energy organisers in Aberdeen last year and their efforts to attract the event to Victoria were successful.
“Last year's Aberdeen exhibition and conference attracted almost 5000 participants from 60 countries.
“Attracting this event shows that organisers recognise Victoria’s leadership in this field and the importance of clean energy to the future of the country.
“It also serves to reinforce Melbourne’s reputation as a conference capital.”
Mr Batchelor said the expo and conference would be free to attend and was the perfect platform to showcase work already being undertaken here and the potential for further clean, sustainable energy projects.
